Mr. Ariwaodo, an alumnus of Citibank with banking experience spanning over 18 years, is a graduate of the Abia State University and a member of the Institute of Chartered Management Auditors. He joined R.T. Briscoe Nigeria Limited in 1977 where he worked in various capacities and rose to the post of Executive Secretary with responsibilities for ensuring execution of decisions and dissemination of information to the various groups within the organization.
He later joined Nigeria International Bank Limited in 1985 and was posted to the Internal Control department. While in Internal Control, he was at different times in charge of Accounts Reconciliation, Verification, Investigations and Records and Files management. In 1991, he was transferred to Apapa Branch as Branch Operations Officer and held the position for 2 years. In 1993, he was transferred to Port Harcourt branch as Deputy Head of Operations. He was briefly assigned to Kano Branch in 1997 where he doubled as the Head of Operations and Acting Branch Manager. He was posted back to Port Harcourt Branch later the same year as the Head of Operations with additional responsibility for the Bank’s Aba branch operations. He was also appointed the Project Coordinator for Bonny Branch in 1997.
Mr. Ariwaodo was recalled to the Head Office, Lagos in 1999 and was posted back to Internal Control Department to head the Quality Assurance Unit. He was in charge of Inspection of Products, Processes, in the head office and branches with responsibilities for strengthening the internal audit process and ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures and compliance with regulatory requirements.
While working with Citigroup, Mr. Ariwaodo benefited from various training courses and took active part in the audit of Citibank branch in Niamey, Niger Republic at various times. He led a team of Citibank auditors from various other Citibank branches in West Africa on Regional Audit Assistance to Citibank Gabon and Cameroon in 2000 and 2001. He was elevated to the position of Assistant General Manager in 2001.
Mr. Ariwaodo retired from Nigeria International Bank Limited in 2003 and set up his own consultancy and training outfit – Grassroots Management Limited. He also facilitated also for the Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC). His core competences are in the areas of Process Audit and Controls, Fraud Detection and Prevention, Regulatory and Compliance Awareness, Quality Assurance Reviews of Bank/Non-Bank Financial Institutions, Records Management and Safety and Security in the banking environment. Mr. Ariwaodo later teamed up with Remi Oyefiade to establish Control Edge Consulting Limited, a consultancy services firm with specialization in Risks and Controls in a business environment He is an Executive Director of the Company.
